Kids Kayak Program
$175 (+ tax) per student

This is a great way for kids to learn to kayak. The weeklong program is 3 hours per day and gives kids a solid foundation in kayak paddling. The kids begin with entries, wet exits and basic strokes. They progress to leans, bracing and mastering a slalom course. Efficiency of stroke and rescues are then covered. They continue to use all of these skills in moving water, which can be applied to whitewater or touring. All of these skills are reinforced along the way with fun and games.

Start at the very beginning of white water paddling in a safe and fun environment. This five-day program will teach the basics of white water paddling. Held on different sections of the Farmington River from Collinsville to the upper portion of the Tariffville Gorge, students will learn wet exits with spray skirts, how to scout and read a river, swift water safety basics, whitewater strokes and paddle manipulation, and, ultimately, the skills necessary to run Class III rapids. We will be training on Class I & II rapids.

Pre-requisite: Intro to Kayak or Kids Kayak Program; Age 12 – 16; good swimming ability.

Eskimo Rolling for Kids
All Ages
$49 (+ tax) per student

Are you ready to rock & roll! If you are dreaming about playing in the waves and holes of the Farmington River, you need to learn a bomb-proof roll. Spend 2 hours with our ACA-certified instructors learning the basics of Eskimo rolling – proper set up, paddle position and movement and the all-important hip snap. The class is small so that our ACA-certified instructors can give individualized instruction to each person. You will also practice wet exits with a spray skirt and swift water safety techniques. This skill usually takes two or more lessons to master. Nose plugs are required.

Pre-requisite: Intro to Kayak or Kids Kayak Program; Age 12 – 16; good swimming ability.
